The Longeye conger〔(Common names for ''Gnathophis bracheatopos'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 (''Gnathophis bracheatopos'') is an eel in the family Congridae (conger/garden eels).〔(''Gnathophis bracheatopos'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 It was described by David G. Smith and Robert H. Kanazawa in 1977.〔Smith, D. G., and R. H. Kanazawa, 1977 (4036 ) ''Eight new species and a new genus of congrid eels from the western north Atlantic with redescriptions of Ariosoma analis, Hildebrandia guppyi, and Rhechias vicinalis.'' Bulletin of Marine Science v. 27 (no. 3): 530-543.〕 It is a tropical, marine eel which is known from the United States (South Carolina to Florida) and the eastern Gulf of Mexico, in the western Atlantic Ocean. It dwells at a depth range of 55-110 metres. Males can reach a maximum total length of 35 centimetres.〔 ==References==
